Jenny graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Medical sciences in 1972. She pursued a specialist training in Ophthalmology studying part time whilst having her family and gained her FRCOphth from the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 1981, She was appointed Consultant at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in 1988 and taught many trainees surgical skills and theory for the following 25years. She taught phacoemulsification for cataract removal at Bristol veterinary school and in 2002 led a team of medics and vets in performing bilateral cataract surgery on a western lowland gorilla at Bristol Zoo. he was an examiner for the fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for over 10 years.
Jenny also volunteered for a charity and completed many cataract procedures in rural India visiting India yearly. She is now retired but retains a keen interest in clinical ophthalmology through her daughters specialist interest.
